WOODEN RACKETS TOURNAMENT

This year saw the first annual wooden rackets tournament at Eastgate squash club. It was a successful tournament with 16 entries who played 4 matches each over the course of 1 evening. Over the course of the evening 32 matches were played, 4 rackets were broken and half a dozen pizza’s were devoured. The event pulled in a good number of spectators as well as some of the clubs top players.

The final saw Jon Ingram Vs Dean Hiatt, a match that proved you don’t need a modern racket to break the sound barrier with a squash ball. There were some incredible rallies and amazing shots, which kept the audience on their toes, but in the end Dean took the match 11-9. Other notable matches include the plate final between Phil Hiatt and Jeff Bell which Phil won 23-21 and Lynne Turner Vs Jeff Bell which Jeff won 21-17
